1.  What ethos does Neal’s Yard Remedies advocate?

The ethos of the company is still the same as when it started.  We pride ourselves on having kept true to our founding principles of ethical, environmentally responsible, sustainable, natural & organic health and beauty.

Our strong eco-principles have set us apart from the very beginning.  We research, develop and manufacture our own products, from sustainably sourced natural and organic ingredients. Many herbs we grow on the farm and next to the factory in Dorset.

Our passionate belief in a better way of creating our products has led us to become the first certified organic health and beauty company, the first company to produce Soil Association certified cosmetics as well as first high street retailer to sell certified organic essential oils.

2.  How is Neal’s Yard Remedies impacting on the world?

I like to believe that we are changing the world with pure products, one blue bottle at a time.  We’re all on a mission to transform people’s lives – people helping people – and supporting the environment by encouraging a more natural, organic and holistic way of living.

All our products are designed to enhance your beauty by enhancing your health – inside and out – all our organic skincare formulations are more than just skin deep – they have therapeutic value especially in the use of pure essential oils.  So at Neal’s Yard Remedies we believe in total wellbeing.

Just remember that tens of thousands of man-made chemicals have been created in the last 50 years – by choosing organic you are choosing to not be exposed to them.

Avoiding chemicals has always been something very close to my wife, Juliet’s and my heart. Many years ago we bought a small farmhouse with half an acre on the Berkshire Downs. It was here that we started to see  first-hand the destructive influence of intensive chemical farming – ‘agribusiness’ as opposed to ‘agriculture’ – on the natural landscape.  This convinced us both that there had to be a better way, and whenever we could, we bought more of the land around us and immediately converted it to organic.

My passion for organic living informed my decision in 2006 to purchase Neal’s Yard Remedies, when the founder Romy Fraser decided to move on to new adventures.

It is emblematic that the tree and its roots is our logo and symbolises our belief that beauty is the outer expression of inner health.

3.  How does NYR Organic empower people?

We’re ardent about ensuring that people are empowered to make informed choices and we support those who stand up against being contaminated without consent.

4.  How do you think NYR Organic improves the quality of people’s lives?

At NYR Organic, we’re passionate about improving the quality of people’s lives.  We do this through the purity of our products, sharing our expertise and encouraging a more natural way of beauty and wellbeing.

It’s not just a business for us – it’s a way of life.

5.  What do you think NYR Organic gives its Consultants?

We give our Consultants training and support so they can make a success of their business.  With NYR Organic there are no set targets, it really is up to you to develop your business at your pace. We believe in empowering, encouraging and supporting people. Our Consultants have the flexibility to work around family, whilst building a business that grows and grows.  This ensures that they strike the right work/family balance, something that I personally subscribe to. As a family man, this is something that is particularly close to my heart.

6.  And finally, how will you be celebrating Christmas?

We all assemble here at the farm for a traditional Christmas – it is a great occasion with our grandchildren – long walks, and visits to local friends.
